Earlier this month, HCSO District 3 and the Loveland Symmes Fire Department hosted a Safety Camp with students and staff from Strive Academy. Safety Camp is open to residents of the City of Loveland and Symmes Township. It is for kids ages 5-7 and runs for 2.5 hours in two sessions, morning and afternoon.
They covered fire safety, police response to stranger danger, first aid, bus safety, and bike safety. One very important activity included a mock 911 call, during which the campers could call our dispatch with an emergency scenario and receive guidance on how to handle it.
Lt. Mike Tarr spoke to the campers about overall safety tips and gave them a tour of a cruiser. Our K9 Unit also displayed some of our drug recovery tactics.
This year’s camp hosted 130 campers! Lots of fun with these little future deputies.
